Montseny: the biosphere reserve

Montseny is the serious mountain closest to the city, and the regional line towards Sant Esteve de Palautordera puts real summits within range of a day return ticket. Snow can sit on the upper slopes into April.

Les Agudes

The classic summit of the massif, just over 1,700 metres, with a panorama that runs from Montserrat to the Pyrenees on a clear winter morning. The final ridge is rocky but never technical.

Turó de l'Home

The highest point in the park, topped by an antenna and reached on a wide track. On clean days you can pick out the skyline of Barcelona from the top.

Matagalls

A broad, grassy dome that has been a pilgrimage summit for centuries. The ascent from the Collformic side passes a spring and the remains of a chapel before opening onto the ridge.
